- Storytelling in Musicals. Students will learn about the “emotional staircase” and how it’s the basis of storytelling in musical theatre.
- Music in Musicals. Students will develop an understanding of how music is used to convey character and emotion, and how that understanding can help strengthen and inform their acting choices.
- Singing Musical Theatre. Students will develop an understanding of proper singing technique and how to use their voice to captivate an audience.
- Dance and Movement. Students will learn how dance and movement contribute to musical storytelling and become familiar with basic choreography.
- Acting the Song. Students will understand the importance of “acting a song” as opposed to just “performing a song”, and learn how to give nuanced, compelling performances.

This course coaches kids to learn while falling in love with reading through enjoyable books such as Charlotte's Web. Throughout the course a new book will be introduced at the beginning of each month. We are excited to begin this journey with your younger children and provide a service for all grades.

Course Description: Science in the Beginning uses the days of creation as a way of introducing a wide range of scientific concepts including the nature of light, energy conservation, the properties of air & water, introductory botany, our solar system, basic zoology, and some aspects of human anatomy & physiology. As the students learn about these scientific concepts, they are consistently reminded of the Creator who fashioned the marvels they are studying.
This 45 minute class will incorporate hands on learning with simple, fun experiments while discussing the concepts learned. Though the text book is optional, older students will benefit from it allowing them to delve deeper at home on non-class days. Younger students may just enjoy the weekly class participation.

Your student will gain poise, confidence, & endurance as they train hard & learn new skills. Martial Arts are a wonderful way for children to learn the discipline, hard work, & patience that it takes to be successful in life. Students are expected to do push-ups and practice techniques at home at least three times per week.
Grade: 5th - 12th
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Tuition: $40 per month or $160 per semester; 15% sibling discount

Those boundless energy students will fit in perfectly as we tune that energy into a work of art. Yes we even have room for those quiet and shy students who need an opportunity to shine forth! Each participant is to build confidence and a love for drama using theater games! A student book is not required. I will provide handouts as needed. In this 32 week course, we will cover getting on stage, warming up, creating characters, improvisation, using objects, creating drama, behind the scenes, monologues and duet acting. Students will be tested on materials presented in class, assigned activities for practice, and occasional homework. All students are expected to participate in a monologue or duet scene at the end of each semester.

My teaching philosophy centers on helping students develop a comprehensive understanding of music that will enable them to enjoy playing the piano. It is my desire that my students become lifelong independent music learners. Traditional private lessons will focus primarily on theory, technique, sight reading and repertoire (all genres of music).
